What's with the Name?
"Peaches and Willie" was a "Photo-nym" that I began to attach to all of my concert photographic work, beginning in late 1975.
"Peaches" refers to a character in one of the early first season episodes of a police detective show called "Baretta" starring Robert Blake. In that show he talks about an old friend of his named "Ragtime Billy Peaches", who was always an upbeat sort...and "Willie" refers to any of the great bluesmen that I had heard through the years, that carried that name with "em... Willie Dixon, Willie McTell, or even Sonny Boy Williamson. It worked for me.
The meaning of such a name then, was like a "Greek Comedy-Tragedy Mask" expression of my photographic "hits and misses" , the joys and frustrations associated with photographing these shows...sometimes I came away capturing a few great images...and sometimes, The Blues.
